The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 2.40% at 9,805, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 2.62% at 9,798. The INDIA VIX is down 8.29% at 18.4850. Out of 1,788 stocks traded on the NSE, 226 declined, 1,291 advanced and 271 remained unchanged today.


S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 23,696 up 812 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,231 up 244 points.

ITC, ICICI Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki and Adani Ports are among the gainers, whereas ONGC, HUL, HDFC and Dr.Reddy's are losing sheen on BSE.

Some buying activity is seen in FMCG, IT, auto, banking, capital goods and consumer durables sectors on BSE. A total of eight stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 48 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

  • ITC jumped 8% to Rs.319 on BSE.
  • Axis Bank climbed 3.2% to Rs.387.10 on BSE.
  • BEML soared 2.3% to Rs.971 on BSE.
  • IDBI Bank zoomed 2.6% to Rs.59.95 on BSE.
  • Vedanta zoomed 2.7% to Rs.72.80.

Jet Airways, SpiceJet Fall 3-4% on Hike in Aviation Fuel Prices

IOC, on February 29, raised aviation turbine fuel prices in Delhi by Rs 4,174.49/kl to Rs 39,301.31/kl.



Aviation companies like Jet Airways and SpiceJet fell 3-4 percent in early trade Tuesday following increase in aviation fuel prices.

At 09:27 hours IST, the scrip of Jet Airways was quoting at Rs 485.20, down Rs 6.70, or 1.36 percent and SpiceJet was at Rs 61.25, down 1.37 percent. 

However, InterGlobe Aviation bucked the trend, up 2.16 percent to Rs 827.50.

ITC rallied 6.46 percent. ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Infosys, SBI and PNB gained 1-3 percent while ONGC and Bharti Airtel fell more than 1 percent. 

 

The Sensex is up 415.64 points or 1.8 percent at 23417.64 and the Nifty is up 125.65 points or 1.8 percent at 7112.70. About 1035 shares have advanced, 259 shares declined, and 44 shares are unchanged.

The Indian rupee gained 17 paise in the early trade on Tuesday. It has opened at 68.26 per dollar versus 68.43 Monday.

Indian shares are likely to start in the green a day following the Union Budget, even as global equities are trading mixed despite a surge in oil prices.

At the time of writing, the SGX Nifty in Singapore is trading 0.77 percent, or 54 points, higher to 7062.
