  • The market has opened flat as the Sensex is up 44.75 points at 27904.35. The Nifty is up 13.30 points orat 8605.45. About 272 shares have advanced, 188 shares declined, and 18 shares are unchanged.
  • Sun Pharma, BHEL, HDFC, Bajaj Auto and M&M are top gainers while Asian Paints, ITC, Bharti Airtel, Maruti and Dr Reddy's Labs are losers in the Sensex.
  • The Indian rupee opened marginally higher by 4 paise at 66.80 per dollar versus 66.84 Thursday.
  • SBI's slippages likely to be at Rs 15-17k cr, GNPA around 7%. India's largest bank SBI is set to release its first quarter earnings today and the street has its eyes set on the asset quality after Bank of Baroda reported its numbers yesterday.
  • USFDA completes inspection of Alkem's Taloja plant; shares up 2%. Shares of Alkem Laboratories touched 52-week high, rises 2.2 percent intraday Friday on successful inspection of Taloja facility by USFDA. The company says there were inspection done from August 1 to August 10, 2016 and there were no issue of 483s by the USFDA.

  • BHEL, Axis Bank, Coal India, NTPC and ICICI Bank are top gainers while GAIL, Wipro, Sun Pharma, HDFC and TCS are losers. Bank of Baroda is down 5 percent after it posted disappointing Q1 results.

Live Stock Market Updates: Nifty eyes 7150; ITC surges 6%



ITC rallied 6.46 percent. ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Infosys, SBI and PNB gained 1-3 percent while ONGC and Bharti Airtel fell more than 1 percent. 

 

The Sensex is up 415.64 points or 1.8 percent at 23417.64 and the Nifty is up 125.65 points or 1.8 percent at 7112.70. About 1035 shares have advanced, 259 shares declined, and 44 shares are unchanged.

The Indian rupee gained 17 paise in the early trade on Tuesday. It has opened at 68.26 per dollar versus 68.43 Monday.

Indian shares are likely to start in the green a day following the Union Budget, even as global equities are trading mixed despite a surge in oil prices.

At the time of writing, the SGX Nifty in Singapore is trading 0.77 percent, or 54 points, higher to 7062.

Andhra Bank to consider preferential allotment of share capital to LIC


Andhra Bank has informed the BSE that a meeting of the Board of Directors meet of the bank will be held on February 26, 2016 to consider preferential allotment of share capital to LIC of India, subject to necessary statutory approvals.

Andhra Bank is currently trading at Rs. 46.75, down by Rs. 0.15 or 0.32% from its previous closing of Rs. 46.9 on the BSE.

The stock is currently trading above its 200 DMA.

Nifty ends below 7250: Indian Stock Market Closing News

The Indian stock market closed fall for the third consecutive session. The broader Nifty fell 1.05%, while the benchmark Sensex lost 1.09%.

The BSE Sensex opened at 23,938, touched an intra-day high of 23,938.3 and low of 23,779. It finally ended with a loss of 262 points at 23,758.


The NSE Nifty opened at 7,264 hitting a high of 7,272 and low of 7,178, before ending with a loss of 83 points at 7,216.


The India VIX (Volatility) index was up 3.39% to 22.4650.  Out of 1,788 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,113 declined and 430 advanced today.

HCL Tech, BPCL, Power Grid, Coal India, UltraTech Cement, Grasim and L&T were among the gainers on NSE, whereas PNB, Tata Motors, Cairn India, Bank of Baroda, SBI, Hindalco, IndusInd Bank were among the losers today.

The Indian Rupee was trading with a gain of 4 paise at 67.86 per US dollar.

The broader markets performed weak with the BSE mid-cap index falling 0.95% and small-cap shedding 1.42%.
