  • The market was marginally lower in early trade with the Sensex struggling below 28000 level amid consolidation. Investors waited for speech by the Federal Reserve Chief Janet Yellen at Jackson Hole.
  • HDFC, Reliance Industries, L&T, Lupin and Sun Pharma were under pressure whereas Infosys, Asian Paints, Adani Ports, TCS and Wipro gained.
  • The Indian rupee has opened higher by 7 paise at 67.12 per dollar against previous close of 67.19 a dollar.
  • Sitharaman convenes meeting of industry bodies on IPR today
  • The associations which would participate include CII, Ficci, PHDCCI, International Trademark Association, Laghu Udyog Bharati, Film and Television Producers Guild of India and Indian Motion Pictures' Producers Association.

  • India is the second largest investor in London and India is on the top of the list for the partnership with UK. Our relation with India is already firm and we will continue to strengthen it," he said.

  • Markets regulator Sebi launched 614 proceedings against the entities which defaulted on payment of penalties in 2015-16 and recovered dues worth over Rs 224 crore. In comparison, the number of attachment proceedings initiated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) in 2014-15 stood at 1,619. These proceedings involve attachment of bank accounts, lockers, shares and debentures, among others.
  • Equity benchmarks started off the week on a flat note as investors digested the news of appointment of new RBI governor Urjit Patel.
  • The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 12.55 points at 28064.45 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 4.50 points to 8662.40.
  • Adani Ports topped the buying list, up 2 percent followed by ITC, HDFC, HDFC Bank, HUL and Reliance Industries whereas TCS, Lupin and Tata Steel fell over a percent.

       Nifty hits 8550, Sensex firm; Wipro tanks 5%, Reliance up 1%

   Reliance, GAIL, M&M, Coal India and Cipla are top gainers in the Sensex while Wipro is down 5 percent. Other losers in the Sensex are ICICI Bank, Infosys, ONGC and Axis Bank.
     After a slow opening, the market has quickly picked pace on Wednesday. The Sensex is up 86.99 points or 0.3 percent at 27874.61 and the Nifty is up 22.60 points or 0.3 at 8551.15. About 507 shares have advanced, 233 shares declined, and 35 shares are unchanged.
     M&M's tech, product development spend at Rs 1,938 cr in FY16 The company, which is betting big on innovation and aims to be among the top 50 'Most Admired' brands in the world by 2021, also filed 173 patents in 2015-16.
          Public sector Indian Bank today said it is adequately funded and will meet its capital requirements through internal accruals. Hailing infusion of Rs 22,915 crore capital into 13 PSU banks by the Centre as an "intelligent move", Indian Bank Managing Director and CEO Mahesh Kumar Jain said it would help the lenders to focus on credit growth.

      The market has opened higher on Monday. The Sensex is up 118.21 points or 0.4 percent at 27954.71 and the Nifty is up 22.65 points or 0.3 percent at 8564.05. About 186 shares have advanced, 47 shares declined, and 22 shares are unchanged.
           Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Ltd has informed BSE that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company will be held on July 29, 2016, inter alia, to consider and take on record, the un-audited financial results of the Company for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 (Q1).
      CST technologies are sufficiently suited for heating, drying and cooling applications for industrial processes and useful for cooking and domestic purposes.
The sentiment remains very positive but the trading is expected to be rangebound in the near term till the next leg of the rally resumes.
            After Reliance Industries beat street expectations for the first quarter of this fiscal, Prayesh Jain of IIFL said that more upside is expected in the stock post earnings and said its gross refining margins (GRMs) are likely to stay strong going forward.

Smartphones lift Samsung Electronics to Best Profit in Over 2yrs

      Tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said on Thursday its second-quarter operating profit likely rose 17.4 percent from a year earlier, its highest in more than 2 years as Galaxy S7 smartphone sales propelled mobile earnings.
     The world's top maker of smartphones and memory chips said its April-June profit was likely 8.1 trillion won (USD7 billion), better than the average forecast of 7.8 trillion won tipped by a Thomson Reuters survey of 16 analysts. It was the highest since a 8.5 trillion won profit in the first quarter of 2014.
