  • The Sensex is up 74.49 points or 0.3 percebt at 28134.43 and the Nifty is up 25.45 points or 0.3 percent at 8675.75. About 562 shares have advanced, 165 shares declined, and 26 shares are unchanged.
  • Cipla, Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, Maruti and TCS are top gainers while Wipro, Infosys, BHEL, NTPC and HDFC are losers in the Sensex.
  • Crude dropped to a one-week low after a government report showed that US crude inventories unexpectedly rose last week.
  • Gold prices slipped to a 4-week low as investors seemed to move from the sidelines ahead of a speech by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen this weekend.
  • Sebi confirms ban on 11 entities in tax evasion case. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), via an interim order dated June 1, this year had prohibited 76 entities, including the aforesaid 11, from the securities market for suspected money laundering and tax evasion activities.

  • Lupin, Tata Motors, ONGC, M&M and Coal India are top gainers while Bajaj Auto, TCS, Hero MotoCorp, Reliance and Infosys are losers in the Sensex. Idea is down 4 percent post Q1 results.
  • The market has opened flat as investors prepare for Raghuram Rajan's last monetary policy review in few hours. The Sensex is down 11.07 points at 28171.50, and the Nifty is down 6.70 points at 8704.65. About 508 shares have advanced, 327 shares declined, and 40 shares are unchanged.
  • The Indian rupee opened flat at 66.84 per dollar versus previous close 66.84.
  • Skipper Ltd Q1 net jumps 37% to Rs 13.72 crore. Kolkata-based Skipper today reported a 36.9 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 13.72 crore for the quarter ended June 30, mainly on improved sales.

  • The market has opened higher on Monday. The Nifty has opened at new 52-week high with the 50-share index up 26.95 points or 0.3 percent at 8710.10 and the Sensex is up 113.53 points or 0.4 percent at 28191.88. About 409 shares have advanced, 101 shares declined, and 37 shares are unchanged.
  • Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, Adani Ports, M&M and Maruti are top gainers while Infosys, GAIL, TCS and Bharti Airtel are losers in the Sensex. Wockhardt is down 12 percent.
  • Q2 slippages may be in Rs 2,000-2,500 cr range: Andhra Bank Andhra Bank's MD & CEO Suresh Patel says large accounts particularly in the construction and iron and steel are major contributors to slippages.
  • Apollo Munich eyes 2-3 bancassurance tie-ups this fiscal Enthused by the open architecture system announced by insurance regulator IRDAI, Apollo Munich Health Insurance said it is eyeing a couple of more bancassurance tie-ups in the current fiscal.
  • Govt may cut gas price for producers by 20 pc in Oct Natural gas price paid to producers like state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) and Reliance Industries is likely to fall 20 per cent to USD 2.45 in October.
  • Economy's financial parameters improved in April-June: Survey Banks and financial institutions witnessed improvement in financial parameters such as cost of funds, liquidity position and external financial linkages in April-June quarter, according to a survey.

Nifty Hits 8700 for 1st Time Since April 16, 2015

BHEL, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, L&T and ONGC are top gainers while ICICI Bank, Infosys and Lupin are major losers in the Sensex.
      The market has opened on a strong note with the Nifty rushing towards 8700. The 50-share index is up 16.00 points or 0.2 percent at 8654.50. The Sensex is up 71.05 points or 0.3 percent at 28122.91. About 448 shares have advanced, 113 shares declined, and 45 shares are unchanged.
Hero MotoCorp is up 6 percent, Bharti Airtel, BHEL, Tata Steel and ONGC are top gainers. ICICI Bank is down 2 percent.
          The Indian rupee gained in the early trade on Monday. It opened higher by 22 paise at 66.80 per dollar versus 67.02 Friday.

  • Earnings to watch out today are Asian Paints, HDFC, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel, YES Bank, Dabur, Torrent Pharma and Shriram Transport Finance.
  • Sebi orders attachment of bank, demat a/c of Pinnacle Ventures. Markets regulator Sebi has ordered attachment of bank and demat accounts of Pinnacle Ventures India and its eight directors as part of steps to recover dues of Rs 3.85 crore. The dues include fine imposed on the firm along with interest, charges, expenses and other costs for violation of norms.
  • Tesla's Musk sees 'modest' capital raise for next strategic turn. Musk's comments during a media open house at Tesla's sprawling, battery "gigafactory" outside Reno, Nevada, come at a time when the automaker is losing money and dealing with investigations into a crash that killed a driver using its Autopilot driving-assist software.
  • China June industrial profits up but investment challenges grow. Profits in June rose to 616.31 billion yuan (USD 92.40 billion), the statistics bureau said on Wednesday. Profits in the mining sector fell 83.6 percent in the first half from a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said.
  • After consolidation, equity benchmarks extended losses in late trade Tuesday on profit booking, especially after June quarter earnings. The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 118.82 points at 27976.52 and the 50-share NSE Nifty dropped 45 points to 8590.65. About 1659 shares declined against 1040 advancing shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

      The market has opened higher on Monday. The Sensex is up 118.21 points or 0.4 percent at 27954.71 and the Nifty is up 22.65 points or 0.3 percent at 8564.05. About 186 shares have advanced, 47 shares declined, and 22 shares are unchanged.
           Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Ltd has informed BSE that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Company will be held on July 29, 2016, inter alia, to consider and take on record, the un-audited financial results of the Company for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 (Q1).
      CST technologies are sufficiently suited for heating, drying and cooling applications for industrial processes and useful for cooking and domestic purposes.
The sentiment remains very positive but the trading is expected to be rangebound in the near term till the next leg of the rally resumes.
            After Reliance Industries beat street expectations for the first quarter of this fiscal, Prayesh Jain of IIFL said that more upside is expected in the stock post earnings and said its gross refining margins (GRMs) are likely to stay strong going forward.
