Indian Stock Market Tips

  • The market has opened higher on Monday. The Nifty has opened at new 52-week high with the 50-share index up 26.95 points or 0.3 percent at 8710.10 and the Sensex is up 113.53 points or 0.4 percent at 28191.88. About 409 shares have advanced, 101 shares declined, and 37 shares are unchanged.
  • Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank, Adani Ports, M&M and Maruti are top gainers while Infosys, GAIL, TCS and Bharti Airtel are losers in the Sensex. Wockhardt is down 12 percent.
  • Q2 slippages may be in Rs 2,000-2,500 cr range: Andhra Bank Andhra Bank's MD & CEO Suresh Patel says large accounts particularly in the construction and iron and steel are major contributors to slippages.
  • Apollo Munich eyes 2-3 bancassurance tie-ups this fiscal Enthused by the open architecture system announced by insurance regulator IRDAI, Apollo Munich Health Insurance said it is eyeing a couple of more bancassurance tie-ups in the current fiscal.
  • Govt may cut gas price for producers by 20 pc in Oct Natural gas price paid to producers like state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) and Reliance Industries is likely to fall 20 per cent to USD 2.45 in October.
  • Economy's financial parameters improved in April-June: Survey Banks and financial institutions witnessed improvement in financial parameters such as cost of funds, liquidity position and external financial linkages in April-June quarter, according to a survey.

Indian Stock Market News and Analysis

The market has opened in red but the Nifty has managed to hold 8500. The Sensex is down 1.70 points at 27813.48, and the Nifty is down 6.40 points at 8513.10.       GAIL, Bharti Airtel,L&T, HDFC Bank and Coal India are top gainers while Bajaj Auto, Wipro, Sun Pharma, ONGC and M&M are losers in the Sensex.
       The Indian rupee opened with marginal gain of 5 paise at 67 per dollar versus previous close 67.05.
      Cotton prices have risen significantly since mid April but Sachit Jain, MD of Vardhman Textiles does not see much impact on margins as yarn prices have also been rising alongside, albeit at a slower pace.
      L&T Infotech's Rs 1,243-crore IPO got oversubscribed 11.67 times on Wednesday, eliciting strong response with the number of applications crossing 1 million on the final day.
           Motilal Oswal has come out with its first quarter (April-June) earnings estimates for the technology sector. The brokerage house expects HCL Technologies to report a 2.1 percent degrowth quarter-on-quarter (growth of 5.7 percent year-on-year) in net profit at Rs 1883.9 crore.
         Global demand for oil will grow by 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd) this year to 96.1 million bpd, the IEA said in its monthly oil market report, revising up last month’s forecasts of a 1.3 million bpd rise.

Market at New 11-Month High, Nifty Hits 8500



The market has opened at fresh 11-month high with the Nifty hitting 8500. The 50-share index is up 34.70 points or 0.4 percent at 8502.60 and the Sensex is up 98.77 points or 0.4 percent at 27725.46.      Axis Bank, HDFC, Bharti Airtel, Maruti and NTPC are top gainers while Coal India, BHEL, TCS, Infosys and Cipla are losers in the Sensex.
        Alcoa tops analyst estimates, stock jumps 4%
Analysts expected the company to report earnings of about 9 cents per share on USD 5.2 billion in revenue, according to a consensus estimate from Thomson Reuters.
Microsoft confirmed it will close its Finnish mobile phone unit and cut up to 1,350 jobs in the Nordic country. The cuts, initially announced in May, are part of Microsoft's plan to shed 1,850 jobs from its smartphone business. Microsoft bought the troubled phone business in 2014 from Nokia, Finland's biggest company.
          Monsoon rains will cover the whole of India in the next 48 hours, the country's weather office said, boosting hopes of a rise in farm output and incomes after two straight years of drought.

    Activate stalled engines to sustain 7.6% growth: WB to India
India needs to activate "stalled engines", including private investment and rural demand, to sustain 7.6 per cent growth rate in the coming years, World Bank said today.
    The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), in June 2013, had imposed various curbs on over 100 firms, including Monotype India, its promoters and directors, for not meeting the minimum 25 percent public holding within the June 3 deadline of the same year.
    The view that Punjab National Bank is the best bet while he feels that State Bank of India may test Rs 227 and Indian Bank may hit Rs 147.
     The Indian rupee opened lower by 9 paise at 67.40 per dollar on Tuesday versus 67.31 Monday.

DCB Bank launches Aadhaar enabled ATM in Bengaluru


After severe cuts yesterday, the market has opened in green on Tuesday. The Sensex is up 64.66 points or 0.2 perceny at 26461.43, and the Nifty is up 21.95 points or 0.3 percent at 8132.55.          GAIL, ICICI Bank, SBI, ONGC and Axis Bank are top gainers while Bharti, Maruti and TCS are losers in the Sensex.
          The Indian rupee opened lower by 6 paise at 67.19 per dollar on Tuesday versus previous close of 67.13.
       Unable to hold its early gains, the market has started to slip quickly. The Sensex is down 26.56 points or 0.1 percent at 26370.21, and the Nifty down 9.85 points or 0.1 percent at 8100.75. About 1007 shares have advanced, 419 shares declined, and 58 shares are unchanged.
         Adani Ports, GAIL, SBI, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank are top gainers while HDFC, Bharti, Bajaj Auto, NTPC and Hero are losers in the Sensex.
         Goldman Sachs says that management's lower store opening guidance will hurt growth. It expects only a small uptick of SSSG to 4 percent in FY17 from 3 percent in FY16 adding that fewer store openings should have a positive impact on SSSG but it remains cautious this time.
           DCB Bank Chairman Nasser Munjee said, "Bengaluru is an important centre for us.... These ATMs are testimony to our commitment to invest in customer facing technology and promote a new way of banking," according to a Bank release.
           Man Industries said this augmented facility will add new milestones for the company and open new market across the globe in high margin line pipe segment in future.
