  •  The market has opened flat on Tuesday with the Nifty holding 8600. The 50-share index is down 1.90 points at 8633.75 and the Sensex is up 25.61 points at 28120.95. About 264 shares have advanced, 75 shares declined, and 21 shares are unchanged. 
  • GAIL, Cipla, Tata Steel, BHEL and ONGC are top gainers while HDFC, Lupin, ICICI Bank, Dr Reddy's and Axis Bank are losers in the Sensex.
  • The Indian rupee opened marginally lower at 67.41 per dollar against previous close 67.35.
  •  The Nifty50 was trading above its crucial level of 8,600 supported by gains in realty, power, oil & gas, metal, consumer durable, and telecom stocks. 
  • Low cotton prices, energy costs boosted Q1 margins: KG Denim KG Denim reported a strong first quarter with margins improving to 15.2 percent and net profit rising to Rs 9.3 crore as against Rs 1.6 crore year-on-year.   • Shares of Equitas Holdings gained 5.6 percent intraday Monday as its net profit jumped 64 percent in the quarter ended June of FY2016-17. It has reported 64 percent jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 61.2 crore for the first quarter of 2016-17 financial year against net profit of Rs 37.4 crore in the corresponding April-June quarter of 2015-16.

       Nifty hits 8550, Sensex firm; Wipro tanks 5%, Reliance up 1%

   Reliance, GAIL, M&M, Coal India and Cipla are top gainers in the Sensex while Wipro is down 5 percent. Other losers in the Sensex are ICICI Bank, Infosys, ONGC and Axis Bank.
     After a slow opening, the market has quickly picked pace on Wednesday. The Sensex is up 86.99 points or 0.3 percent at 27874.61 and the Nifty is up 22.60 points or 0.3 at 8551.15. About 507 shares have advanced, 233 shares declined, and 35 shares are unchanged.
     M&M's tech, product development spend at Rs 1,938 cr in FY16 The company, which is betting big on innovation and aims to be among the top 50 'Most Admired' brands in the world by 2021, also filed 173 patents in 2015-16.
          Public sector Indian Bank today said it is adequately funded and will meet its capital requirements through internal accruals. Hailing infusion of Rs 22,915 crore capital into 13 PSU banks by the Centre as an "intelligent move", Indian Bank Managing Director and CEO Mahesh Kumar Jain said it would help the lenders to focus on credit growth.

Indian Stock Market News and Analysis

The market has opened in red but the Nifty has managed to hold 8500. The Sensex is down 1.70 points at 27813.48, and the Nifty is down 6.40 points at 8513.10.       GAIL, Bharti Airtel,L&T, HDFC Bank and Coal India are top gainers while Bajaj Auto, Wipro, Sun Pharma, ONGC and M&M are losers in the Sensex.
       The Indian rupee opened with marginal gain of 5 paise at 67 per dollar versus previous close 67.05.
      Cotton prices have risen significantly since mid April but Sachit Jain, MD of Vardhman Textiles does not see much impact on margins as yarn prices have also been rising alongside, albeit at a slower pace.
      L&T Infotech's Rs 1,243-crore IPO got oversubscribed 11.67 times on Wednesday, eliciting strong response with the number of applications crossing 1 million on the final day.
           Motilal Oswal has come out with its first quarter (April-June) earnings estimates for the technology sector. The brokerage house expects HCL Technologies to report a 2.1 percent degrowth quarter-on-quarter (growth of 5.7 percent year-on-year) in net profit at Rs 1883.9 crore.
         Global demand for oil will grow by 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd) this year to 96.1 million bpd, the IEA said in its monthly oil market report, revising up last month’s forecasts of a 1.3 million bpd rise.

    The Indian rupee opened higher by 13 paise at 67.55 per dollar versus 67.68 Wednesday.
  The Sensex is up 221.86 points or 0.8 percent at 26962.25, and the Nifty up 62.55 points or 0.8 percent at 8266.55. About 1318 shares have advanced, 310 shares declined, and 67 shares are unchanged. BHEL, Tata Motors, NTPC, Hero MotoCorp and HUL are top gainers. GAIL is down.
      The cane price payable and arrears have been calculated on the basis of Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP), which is the minimum price, fixed by the Centre, to be paid to farmers. For the 2015-16 marketing year, FRP for sugarcane has been fixed at Rs 230 per quintal.
     In order to address time lag in agri-data, there is a need to use modern technologies like remote sensing, he said, adding that such technologies are now being promoted in his ministry for collecting horticulture data.
     Expenditure on air transport is negligible in rural areas while air transport accounts for 2.53 percent of all transport expenditures in urban areas.

      Morgan Stanley is overweight on Hindalco Industries with a target price of Rs 147. The brokerage house believes improved cash flows from higher aluminium price and volume growth should drive deleveraging for the company.

    Activate stalled engines to sustain 7.6% growth: WB to India
India needs to activate "stalled engines", including private investment and rural demand, to sustain 7.6 per cent growth rate in the coming years, World Bank said today.
    The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), in June 2013, had imposed various curbs on over 100 firms, including Monotype India, its promoters and directors, for not meeting the minimum 25 percent public holding within the June 3 deadline of the same year.
    The view that Punjab National Bank is the best bet while he feels that State Bank of India may test Rs 227 and Indian Bank may hit Rs 147.
