Indian Stock Market News, Nifty above 8650

  • The market has opened flat with subdued global cues. The Sensex is up 12.99 points at 28016.11 and the Nifty is up 2.20 points at 8638.75. About 526 shares have advanced, 225 shares declined, and 53 shares are unchanged.
  • Sun Pharma, Maruti, Lupin, SBI and L&T are top gainers while ICICI Bank, HDFC, Infosys, wipro and Hero are among losers in the Sensex.
  • The Indian rupee opened marginally lower at 66.78 per dollar on Tuesday versus previous close 66.74.
    Tata Motors reported a 7.48 percent increase in total sales at 43,160 units in July.
    Domestic sales of Tata Motors' commercial and passenger vehicles grew 8 percent to 37,789 units in July over the same month of the previous year.

Nifty Hits 8700 for 1st Time Since April 16, 2015

BHEL, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel, L&T and ONGC are top gainers while ICICI Bank, Infosys and Lupin are major losers in the Sensex.
      The market has opened on a strong note with the Nifty rushing towards 8700. The 50-share index is up 16.00 points or 0.2 percent at 8654.50. The Sensex is up 71.05 points or 0.3 percent at 28122.91. About 448 shares have advanced, 113 shares declined, and 45 shares are unchanged.
Hero MotoCorp is up 6 percent, Bharti Airtel, BHEL, Tata Steel and ONGC are top gainers. ICICI Bank is down 2 percent.
          The Indian rupee gained in the early trade on Monday. It opened higher by 22 paise at 66.80 per dollar versus 67.02 Friday.

     Public sector lender Punjab National Bank 's (PNB) first quarter profit plunged by 57.5 percent to Rs 306.4 crore on yearly basis but the fall was much less compared to analysts' expectations. Higher other income and lower tax cost supported profits Provisions for bad loans jumped 51.2 percent to Rs 2,738.4 crore in the quarter ended June 2016 compared with year-ago period but declined sharply 74 percent from Rs 10,485.2 crore in preceding period. 
  • The 50-share NSE Nifty started off August series on a flat note. The Sensex was down 10.22 points at 28198.40 and the Nifty declined 2.75 points at 8663.55.  
  • Axis Bank, L&T, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Coal India, Eicher Motors, Bosch, Tata Power and Tata Steel were early gainers while BHEL, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, SBI, Bharti Infratel and ACC were losers.
  • The Indian rupee opened flat at 67.04 per dollar against previous close 67.04

  • Equity benchmarks started off Thursday's trade with marginal gains as the Sensex gained 80.69 points at 28105.02 and the Nifty rose 21 points to 8636.80.
  • Bharti Airtel topped the buying list among Sensex 30 stocks, up over 2 percent after better-than-expected consolidated earnings in Q1.
  • ICICI Bank, Maruti Suzuki and Adani Ports gained 1 percent each while Infosys, NTPC were losers.
  • The Indian rupee opened higher by 8 paise at 67.06 per dollar versus 67.14 Wednesday.
  • Asian Paints also reacted positively to better-than-expected earnings in June quarter, up nearly 2 percent.

  •  The market has opened flat on Tuesday with the Nifty holding 8600. The 50-share index is down 1.90 points at 8633.75 and the Sensex is up 25.61 points at 28120.95. About 264 shares have advanced, 75 shares declined, and 21 shares are unchanged. 
  • GAIL, Cipla, Tata Steel, BHEL and ONGC are top gainers while HDFC, Lupin, ICICI Bank, Dr Reddy's and Axis Bank are losers in the Sensex.
  • The Indian rupee opened marginally lower at 67.41 per dollar against previous close 67.35.
  •  The Nifty50 was trading above its crucial level of 8,600 supported by gains in realty, power, oil & gas, metal, consumer durable, and telecom stocks. 
  • Low cotton prices, energy costs boosted Q1 margins: KG Denim KG Denim reported a strong first quarter with margins improving to 15.2 percent and net profit rising to Rs 9.3 crore as against Rs 1.6 crore year-on-year. Lower cotton prices and better energy costs aided margin expansion in the first quarter of FY17, says B Sriramulu, Managing Director of KG Denim. Volumes for the company grew at near 3 percent levels in Q1
  •  Essar expands capacity at Hazira Port with Rs 800cr investment The company is investing Rs 800 crore to add 20 MMPTA at its Hazira Port in Surat to its existing 30 MMTPA capacity, Essar Ports Chief Executive Officer Rajiv Agarwal told reporters here.

       Nifty hits 8550, Sensex firm; Wipro tanks 5%, Reliance up 1%

   Reliance, GAIL, M&M, Coal India and Cipla are top gainers in the Sensex while Wipro is down 5 percent. Other losers in the Sensex are ICICI Bank, Infosys, ONGC and Axis Bank.
     After a slow opening, the market has quickly picked pace on Wednesday. The Sensex is up 86.99 points or 0.3 percent at 27874.61 and the Nifty is up 22.60 points or 0.3 at 8551.15. About 507 shares have advanced, 233 shares declined, and 35 shares are unchanged.
     M&M's tech, product development spend at Rs 1,938 cr in FY16 The company, which is betting big on innovation and aims to be among the top 50 'Most Admired' brands in the world by 2021, also filed 173 patents in 2015-16.
          Public sector Indian Bank today said it is adequately funded and will meet its capital requirements through internal accruals. Hailing infusion of Rs 22,915 crore capital into 13 PSU banks by the Centre as an "intelligent move", Indian Bank Managing Director and CEO Mahesh Kumar Jain said it would help the lenders to focus on credit growth.
