“Coal production by Coal India crosses 9 per cent over last
year's record production. Well done. Keep it going. Still a very long way to
go," Coal Secretary Anil Swarup said in a tweet.
Coal India's production had jumped 8.8 percent to 321.38
million tonnes (MT) during April-November period of the current fiscal.
CIL produced 295.40 MT during the same period last year, a
company official said. The government has set one billion tonnes production
goal for the company by 2020. CIL accounts for over 80 per cent of the domestic
coal production.
The government has set a production target of 550 MT for the PSU for the current fiscal. Coal India missed the production target for 2014-15 by 3 per cent, recording an output of 494.23 million tonnes.

On December 28, 2015, at 09:39 hrs Coal India was quoting at Rs 323.90, up Rs 1.50, or 0.47 percent. The 52-week high of the share was Rs 447.25 and the 52-week low was Rs 300.75.

Rs 19.07 per share as per the quarter ended September 2015. The stock's
price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio was 16.98. The latest book value of the company
is Rs 26.49 per share. At current value, the price-to-book value of the company
is 12.23.
